motivational quotes
We all have our lazy Sundays and today has been one of mine. On a day like this, it seems the only motivation I have is to lie under the covers. But, for an entrepreneur like me, that is just unacceptable.

Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the monotony of our daily routines and we forget how extraordinary it is to be alive. We forget our infinite creative potential and fall back on our old habits and structures.

To come out of a rut, sometimes it takes external effort. It’s especially in times like these that motivational quotes by others inspire me to spring back into action!

I’ve compiled a list of my favorite quotes to help those suffering from a lack of motivation. I hope that these inspire you as much as they inspire me.

Motivational Quote #1

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’
Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ~Marianne Williamson

Very few people live up to their own potential. It is easy to stay confined within limits; it’s frightening to go beyond them. But those that have the courage to do so reach extraordinary heights. When you act as a fully empowered being, you naturally empower others.

Do not be afraid of your own power. Unleash it and let it flow out of you and into the world. Remember, that you have so much to give. You are a gift to the world.

Motivational Quote #2

“The mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for.” ~Fyodor Dostoevsky

What are you living for? Too often we get caught up in the mundane tasks of ordinary life and we forget the innate beauty and mystery of existence. We forget how amazing it is that we exist in this time and space. We lose touch with our creativity and imagination.

What is keeping you motivated to truly live and soak up the sensory experience of existence? If you aren’t feeling motivated, what could you do to help motivate you? What makes you feel excited to be alive? Whatever it is, do that and do it with a smile on your face!

Motivational Quote #3

Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein. ~Life’s Little Instruction Book, compiled by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

Have you heard the expression, “There’s just not enough time in the day”? People often talk about all of the things they would love to do, but they feel they aren’t able to do so because there just isn’t enough time. It is as if time is always running out.

Meanwhile, they are spending the precious moments they have doing tasks that lack meaning for them. All we truly have is the present moment and we can make with it whatever we will. We must change our perception of time and recognize the true possibility that lies before us.

All of the people listed in the aforementioned quote were human, just like you. You are just as capable as they are of achieving greatness because you are already great, just as you are.

Motivational Quote #4

“Good things come to those who wait… greater things come to those who get off their ass and do anything to make it happen.” ~Unknown

I had to laugh at the truth of this one. Many of us daydream about what we really want, but we never take any action towards making it a reality. If you want to achieve success, you have to put in effort. You can’t just sit around and watch television or surf the net all day.

Get yourself motivated to get off your ass and get something done. Getting your momentum going is the hardest part. But once you get started, it is so easy to keep pushing onward.

Motivational Quote #5

“Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason to not follow your heart. Stay hungry. Stay foolish.” ~Steve Jobs

Remembering our mortality can help us appreciate the gift of life and soak up all of its pleasures. You cannot take anything to your grave with you but your experiences. Many times we let the fear of failure or loss of resources keep us from really living out our heart’s desires. But, in reality that is what we are here to do.

Once we accept our impending death, we realize the freedom we truly have. You have nothing to lose, but so much to gain in the experience of life.

Remember, this is just an experience, so experiment a little bit. Take risks. Live while you are still alive. You never know when death might come to greet you, but you know that it inevitably will.

I hope that reading these motivational quotes has inspired you to turn your lazy Sunday into a productive one. Whether you’re completing a procrastinated task from last week, or working towards a new project, do it with inspiration, passion, and joy.

Life is short. Work hard for what you want and let go of what you don’t.
